I’m putting my Best Boot Forward!
This last week has been pretty cool. I’ve got a lot done and have spent the week in a most chilled yet productive haze. Chloe’s question this week was a difficult one for me. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that I didn’t actually believe in luck. There are people in my life that make me feel safe, happy and loved. Things about my life that I realise I am fortunate for (living in the UK, born healthy etc), but for the most part I do what I can with what I’m given, and that takes hard work and not luck.
Lose 12kg in a stable and healthy way
I spent the latter half of the week with excruciating back pain, because I’ve been spending too much time on the sofa and not enough standing up to work. I’m not doing pilates or any other form of exercise until my back is better, which I think will take a few more days of slow moving and decent posture. Not what one needs for the Easter holidays! I haven’t lost any weight this week which is a shame, but nothing I can’t handle. This week I’m going to look after my posture and be careful to eat extra healthy foods after celebrating the journal and Ian’s birthday meal last week!
Sort and redecorate the house
We’ve had a little chat about the colours and not come to much agreement so far – oops! I tend to stick to white, but want the bathroom to be mid/dark grey (with white tiles). I think this would be great, Him Indoors not so much. We’ll get there! This week I want to measure up for some lino and work out a budget for the lino and paint.
Have enough savings to cover bills for 6 months
My most recent bank statement said I spent £600 less last month than I took in – success, at last! Tax credit review forms will be rolling out soon and we need to have a safety net in case they need to do another investigation: the bane of being self employed! I’ve had more interest from potential clients so fingers crossed for more good news on the horizon. And I published my journal! This week I’m focusing on free/cheap Easter holiday activities. I don’t want the kids to be stuck on the PS4 all week, but then I don’t want to spend a fortune either! I’m also getting my journal launch parties sorted and setting up an affiliate program.
Continue to reduce our impact on the planet as a family
I’ve been reducing our food waste by batch cooking and reading up on zero waste recipes. Did you know you can whizz up banana skins in a smoothie? Which reminds me, I have another kefir water smoothie recipe coming soon-ish! We’ve also been reducing our screen time and trying to stay warm without using the heating. I still think there’s more to do in these areas, so for April I’m sticking with reducing food waste and energy consumption.
