I’m putting my Best Boot Forward!
Thank goodness for that. I recovered well(ish) from the demon hangover from hell in the end, and managed to get everything ticked off my to-do list by the skin of my teeth thanks to a random burst of energy on Sunday evening. I’ve made some pretty decent steps!
I feel quite lucky that my fiance is also self-employed. Yes, he has a lot more clients than I do and yes, gardening is completely different to blogging/social media management… but he gets it. He understands the effort I put into everything. We often co-work late into the night after putting the kids to bed. Equally, we have downtime together. One of the things that motivates me is having someone who just gets it.
Lose 12kg in a stable and healthy way
I managed to catch up on a video from the yoga challenge, take Rhian swimming and do the pilates video I posted last week. Caden came to see what I was up to when I was halfway through and joined in with me – anything to stay up late, eh? I ached a little after the video but nowhere near as I did the very first time, a few years ago. This just goes to show how far I’ve come! I’ve lost what I’ve gained and a little bit more, bringing my total loss so far to 1.7 kgs, or 3.75lbs. My clothes are already starting to fit me better! This weekend the boys will be with their father so I’m going to try and catch up on more yoga this weekend. I’m going to do another pilates video (probably the same one tbh) and I’m taking Rhian to the gym for “PE” this week.
Sort and redecorate the house
The decluttering has finally been finished! It’s so easy to tidy the living room now. Don’t get me wrong, there was slight dismay when I realised there was another toy box on one of my shelving units I hadn’t sorted through the first time I did toys (I left that box as it is for now), but it was lovely to watch the boys rediscover a marble run set they hadn’t used for at least a year. My living room looks almost neat again. I haven’t got around to figuring out the prints, but I’ll get to that this week.
Have enough savings to cover bills for 6 months
I decided not to plan Rhian’s party yet as there is Valentine’s Day and a half term to budget for first. Oh, and my niece’s third birthday. We managed to get the grocery bill down a bit this week, although I’m still over budget a fraction. It’s not a big deal and we can accomodate it easily, but I wonder if I need to increase the budget. I haven’t noticed individual prices rising, but you never know… we will see. I had my bank statement and gasped horror as it said I’d spent about £700 more than what came in. I printed off the statement and went through it all with a highlighter: £250 was lent to a family member, £400 went towards Ian’s car insurance, which he’s paying back. The rest was typical Christmas overspending, so it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought! Phew!
Continue to reduce our impact on the planet as a family
I still haven’t put together our plastic audit sheet or finished taking the Fat Lama photos! I’m going to rope Ian into helping me this weekend because the thought of going under the stairs/into very full cupboards and lugging out bits of camping/cleaning equipment is what’s putting me off. The plastic audit sheet design is in my diary for Thursday. I did however make more conscious decisions when out and about, buying a cardboard box full of cans of pop for the kids rather than a plastic 2l bottle. Surprisingly, they’re being more disciplined while drinking it too!
I’m getting back on track this week. How has yours been?
