I love feeding people. Not only is having lots of people around you great fun (usually), but nourishing them and watching them enjoy your food feels like one of the best acts of love. To shamelessly (kinda) rip off one of my favourite Disney films, good food brings folks together from all walks of life!
I initially wrote this post for The Big Lunch which takes place in the summer, but I’ve expanded it to include “big lunch” dishes which are great for autumn and winter too. Enjoy!

Lunchtime recipes for a crowd of hungry vegans
These vegan lunch recipes are delicious, mostly healthy and all great for feeding a crowd. Almost all of them can be made ahead of time. They’re best for bring-a-plate gatherings, but a couple of ideas are good for hosts too.
Oh my. This Spicy Cashew Thai Chickpea Broccoli Salad from Ambitious Kitchen looks beautiful and is super nutritious to boot.
This sun-dried tomato lentil salad from Garlic Matters (what a name) is also making me swoon. Honestly I never thought *I’d* be a person who craved salad.
Soothing, warm and comforting, potato and leek soup is one for Autumn.
Nettle and wild garlic soup is a wonderfully light broth using some of spring’s best bounty.
A bowl of pasta with some homemade wild garlic pesto will please almost any crowd.
This vegan greek pasta salad from Vegan Heaven looks great. We probably wouldn’t use black olives, but the rest of it looks lovely and I’m really excited to try my hand at vegan feta.
Sandwiches and wraps
Vegan egg mayo has long been one of our favourite sandwich fillings, more so since we’ve more-or-less perfected homemade vegan mayo.
Some vegan ham and pink slaw sandwiches always go down a treat here, especially paired with a simple side salad.
Vegan pizza quesadilla is one of the first things I veganised. Thankfully vegan cheese has come a long way since then so they’re even better when we make them now.
A big batch of jacket potatoes with a vegan chilli or simple vegetable curry goes a long way. I remember my aunt and uncle doing this (with omni dishes) for a party once and thinking “why didn’t I think of that?”
Speaking of big batches, in recent years I’ve grilled big batches of vegan sausages and set up a hot-dog making station with buns, toppings and sides. Think onions, sauces, salads, jalapenos etc. It went down really well!
This pesto potato salad from Lazy Cat Kitchen looks perfect for a long, lazy summer picnic with friends. You could have it with my wild garlic pesto, or if you don’t fancy pesto you could drizzle it with wholegrain mustard and rice malt syrup.
Desserts and snacks
Vegan Welsh cakes are easily transportable, cute and they keep well – but they’re so delicious you won’t keep them for long!
Garlic butter popcorn is one of my favourite ever accidental recipes – it’s a great addition to movie night and I haven’t yet found someone who doesn’t love it.
I’m feeling pretty hungry now, haha! What are your favourite lunchtime eats? And what is your favourite Disney film? Drop me a comment below or tweet me!
